In the photo above is the ultra conservative Archbishop Richard Kain who removed a Father Tuohy as rector of St. Patrick’s parish without the proper Canonical trial that all priests are entitled too. Basically, Tuohy was to liberal for the ultra conservative Kain, who fired Tuohy, but Tuohy refused to accept the termination. Eventually the Vatican decided in favor of the Archbishop, but even then, Tuohy refused to step down and sued the Archbishop in circuit court. At the time, the case riveted the attention of the whole US church and divided priest and Nuns into Tuohy’s camp, with Bishops and above in Kain’s camp.
Archbishop Kain Wins a Suit.

ST. LOUIS, March 1.-The, Circuit court at St. Charles. Mo. has decided the ejectment suit of Archbishop Kain against the Rev. Father John J. Tuohy in favor of the plaintiff. By this decision the Archbishop obtains possession of the parochial residence of St.Patrick’s parish and $500 in damages.
